COVID was particularly hard on elementary-aged scouts. For this reason, we are encouraging every post home to also become the home for a Cub Scout pack. Scouting’s program for elementary school children is a vibrant and flexible program that enriches the lives of our youth (boys and girls) to become better citizens and students. Contact the Department Scouting Chairman for more information. This is a wonderful opportunity for every post to engage with their local community in a way that is both relevant and necessary.

During COVID applicants for the Eagle Scout of the Year program were down nationwide. This is the year for us to bounce back. Spread the word that our Eagle Scout of the Year program is one of the best opportunities for merit-based college scholarships. Our goal is at least one applicant per division. Applications will be available on the national website later this year and due to department headquarters no later than March 1 to be considered for the current year. Hardcopies of the application (complete) and all necessary supporting documentation must be sent to: American Legion Department of Texas
